What Is an Assessment?

A psychological evaluation is a structured process that looks closely at how someone thinks, learns, feels, and functions day to day. Using interviews, questionnaires, and standardized testing, we build a clear, accurate picture of what's going on beneath the surface — whether that's ADHD, anxiety, autism, or something not yet named. The result is a diagnosis (if applicable) and a roadmap for support that actually fits.

How Do I Know If I Need One?

An evaluation may be a good fit if you notice:

  • Struggles at school, work, or home that don't add up to what others see

  • A pattern of "trying harder" without things actually getting easier

  • Big feelings, meltdowns, or shutdowns that feel bigger than the situation

  • Questions about whether ADHD, anxiety, or autism might explain what you or your child are experiencing

  • A need for documentation to access accommodations (school, work, or otherwise)

  • A gut feeling that something deserves a closer look — even if you can't quite name it

What Happens During an Assessment

1. Connection Call A brief, no-pressure call to talk through your concerns, answer your questions, and make sure this is the right fit before moving forward. If it feels like a good fit a Good Faith Estimate will be provided to clarify cost.

2. Initial Meeting / Interview An in-depth conversation to understand your (or your child's) history, current concerns, and goals for the evaluation. This will include the specific questions you hope the evaulation will answer.

3. Testing Session(s) Standardized testing tailored to the questions we're answering, this may occur over 2-4 sessions depending on the infortaion being gathered.

  • A parent or child discussion (for child/teen evaluations)

  • Rating scales to be completed in the area(s) of questions

  • Direct testing with the child or adult client

4. Feedback & Written Report Once testing is complete, you'll take part in a review with the psychologist, receive a comprehensive written report explaining the results in clear, understandable language, along with personalized recommendations and next steps.

Cost

  • $165/hour, with total cost depending on the scope of the evaluation

  • Most evaluations range from $1,300–$2,500, depending on the referral question and testing needed
